Quantitative Researcher

Quantitative Researcher Apply for this role

The role

We are looking for researchers who think carefully, test rigorously, and are comfortable with the idea that most hypotheses are wrong. The job is to find the ones that aren't.

You'll work on a small team — often just one or two people — with access to high-quality data, fast compute, and the full support of the firm's engineering infrastructure. From hypothesis to live trade, the loop is yours to own.

We do not have predefined research agendas. We hire people who bring their own questions and can answer them with rigor.

What you'll do

  • Form hypotheses about market structure, signal persistence, or execution inefficiencies — and design experiments to test them
  • Build and evaluate systematic strategies against realistic cost models and out-of-sample data
  • Implement production-ready strategies in collaboration with the engineering team
  • Monitor live strategies, understand their behavior, and iterate
  • Contribute to shared research infrastructure and the firm's intellectual culture

What we're looking for

  • Strong mathematical foundation — probability, statistics, linear algebra, stochastic processes
  • Comfort working with large, messy, real-world datasets in Python, R, Julia, or equivalent
  • A track record of original quantitative work — academic or applied
  • An adversarial instinct: you look for the ways your own results could be wrong
  • PhD in mathematics, physics, computer science, statistics, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated depth

We do not require prior finance experience. Some of our best researchers came from signal processing, particle physics, and computational biology. We care about how you think, not what you've traded.

What we offer

  • Significant base compensation plus direct participation in the performance of the strategies you build
  • Full access to the firm's data infrastructure, compute, and execution systems
  • A research environment without internal politics or bureaucratic process
  • Complete ownership of your research agenda, within the firm's strategic focus
  • A small, serious team that will push back on your work and expect you to push back on theirs

Send a CV and a short note — what you've worked on, what you found, and what you found interesting about it. We read everything and reply to everyone.
